Multi-Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Shawn Colvin has had many hits, possibly to numerous to mention, including: “Sunny Came Home”, “I Don’t Know Why”, and “Round Of Blues”. Now after a five year absence, she is back with a brand new album, These Four Walls. The first on her new label Nonesuch.
Colvin’s music career began in the Austin, Texas music scene in the late '70s and she has become well known for collaborating on many artists’ work. She sang backing vocals for Susan Vega’s “Luca”, as well as for Mary Chapin Carpenter on "The Hard Way" and "Come On, Come On". She has appeared at Lilith Fair music festivals, was the guest vocalist for Lisa Loeb on the single "'Falling in Love," and played the voice of Ned Flanders' post-Maude love interest Rachel – the Christian rock band beauty – in The Simpsons.
In addition to working in so many mediums during her illustrious career, she has also had many critically acclaimed albums and has been nominated for six Grammys, winning three – 1991, Best Contemporary Folk Album, Steady On; 1998, Record of the Year, "Sunny Came Home”; and 1998, Song of the Year, "Sunny Came Home".
Colvin has long been regarded as one of the best of the “new folk movement” and now she and long-time collaborator John Leventhal have created a smooth, contemporary folk-country-pop album, These Four Walls. Filled with hauntingly beautiful, heart-gripping songwriting and Colvin’s sweet melancholy vocals, These Four Walls will fill you up and pour you out over and over again.
