hall and oatesIt's hard to believe four decades have passed since Daryl Hall and John Oates first brought us their special blend of soul, R&B, and pop. Thanks to a string of hit singles that topped charts spanning several genres in the '70s, '80s, and '90s, they've sold over 60 million albums and claimed the title of biggest selling – and best known – pop duo of all time.

Six of those singles, “Rich Girl,” “Kiss On My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” “Maneater,” and “Out Of Touch,” hit the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and another two dozen graced the top forty. All of those singles, plus numerous live performances, unreleased tracks, and rarities can be found in the new box set which documents their long career.

I’m a longtime fan since the ’70s, and Daryl Hall & John Oates are the GREATEST musical artists of all time, in my opinion!

While most artists’ finest work may be represented by the “hits” they generated, this does not apply to Hall & Oates. Although they did a number of high-quality pop tunes that are instantly recognizable even to this day (and rightfully so) – to me, many of my favorite songs of theirs were ones you would never even hear on the radio. To me, this is a hallmark of true greatness; yet, this truly creative-genius duo remain vastly underrated by many who have not explored their music deeper.

I own most everything they ever recorded, in one format or another. But this box-set compilation is ultra-special: it is a collection of works that Daryl and John themselves personally selected to showcase 40 years of a stellar career that is still going strong.

Although I WILL have this box set eventually – one way or another – I do hope to be one of the lucky winners here. I’m a bit low on funds at the present time, and my birthday is coming up on the 22nd (hint, hint!).

I have had the wonderful privilege of seeing them in concert – and also meeting them personally – twice. I can honestly say, they were every bit as personable and charming and down-to-earth as their beautiful, soulful music would seem to suggest. Great guys, great music….they are, quite simply, the BEST!!!!
