Eliott Smith rarities to be released

Kill Rock Stars is collecting Elliott Smith rarities from 1994 to 1997. The rarities will be released on an album entitled New Moon. The album will contain 24 tracks and will be released on May 8th. This will be Smith’s second posthumous album and a follow-up to 2004's From a Basement on the Hill. Smith died in 2003.

Gore announces Live Earth

A massive group of environmental concerts called Live Earth was announced today by former Vice President Al Gore alongside Kevin Wall, Pharrell and Cameron Diaz. The concerts will take place on July 7, 2007 in seven locations: Sydney, London, Johannesburg, Shanghai and cities to be decided in the US, Brazil and Japan. Among the artists who have already agreed to play are Pharrell, Fall Out Boy, Foo Fighters, John Mayer and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The proceeds of the concerts will go to The Alliance for Climate Protection.

Microsoft warns against Word security flaw

Microsoft has warned that a rigged word file, when opened corrupts system memory and could allow an attacker to gain control of their PC. Office 2000 and Office XP are at risk. The flaw is being used in a limited way because the attacker has to get the user to open the rigged file. Microsoft is working on the security repair.
