Taking Over Me is the first book in Sara Brookes’ Geek Kink series from Ellora’s Cave. Based on this, I’ll definitely be reading the others.
This novel is the tale of Allison, a self-confessed computer geek, and Patrick, the latest barista in town. When Allison heads to the new coffee shop, Perfect Shot, and sees Patrick behind the counter, she thinks he’s totally hot.
When she realises he’s having serious technical issues, she immediately jumps in to help him out. It’s obvious from that moment that there’s a spark between them. Allison saves the day and Patrick is indebted to her.
From there, Patrick is eager to have Allison – via the computer company she works for – install a new till and security system in the coffee shop. The tension between the two of them continues to simmer, and before long, it’s gone off the boil.
Patrick’s a dom, and although she hadn’t been aware of it until meeting Patrick, Allison’s a submissive. They go together perfectly and when they realise it, they’re soon totally wrapped up in one another and their kinky desires.
But things don’t always go smoothly in relationships and problems are thrown at them. Can their relationship survive? Is it over before it even really started?
I really enjoyed Taking Over Me. I loved the fact that the heroine was such a geeky, quirky character, and that her personality and likes were portrayed as a positive thing. The hero is hot stuff with a touch of the bad boy about him, so the dynamic between the two lead characters was dynamic and exciting.
I found the storyline very interesting and engaging, and the writing top notch. I’m definitely looking forward to checking out the next book in this series. Geeks rule!
