Good Guys Love Dogs by Inglath Cooper is a fun romantic story about people I think many can relate to for a variety of reasons. The characters are challenged with being single parents, living with teenagers and fear of being hurt again. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting this one down once I started reading it. It is a fast and easy read, and will take its readers to the appealing world of small town Virginia.
Colby Williams is a single mother of a teenage daughter who is struggling with her relationship with her daughter and doesn’t understand why. She is the town vet, and her love of animals is evident, which is part of the reason why I loved this book and this character particularly. Ian McKinley is the city slicker New Yorker who moves to Virginia with his teenage son to build their relationship. He is successful, handsome and engaged, and is quick to stand out in the small town.
The author does a great job of creating characters that are lovable and easy to connect with. I think many parents of teenagers will relate to Colby and Ian as they struggle with their children. Cooper creates a beautiful setting in a small town in Virginia and I found myself drawn to the people and setting because of the author’s descriptive imagery.
I highly recommend Good Guys Love Dogs to anyone looking for a fun get-away book. I was quickly drawn into this story and was sad to finish it. This is a book that I would consider rereading just to be a part of these characters’ lives again. I will definitely be looking to read more from Inglath Cooper. Well done!Powered by Sidelines
