Disney has just released Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue on both Blu-ray and DVD September 21st! This is an all new, original full length CG animated film, taking place years before Tinker Bell meets Wendy and the Lost Boys. Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue takes place in the English countryside amidst cottages with thatched roofs and stone bridges, where Tinker Bell meets her very first human, a little girl named Lizzie.

The Flower Fairies are visiting England for fairy camp one summer when Tinker Bell ignores warnings to stay away from the human house and decides to investigate the new family and the carriage that moves without a horse (the car). Tinker Bell discovers a fairy house that Lizzy built and decides to investigate. Lizzie catches her and the Flower Fairies decide to build a boat to stage a daring rescue to free Tinker Bell. Lizzie desperately wants a friend and she and Tinker Bell become good friends while she is waiting for the rain to stop so she can go home. In case you didn’t know, fairies cannot fly in rain. Their wings get wet.

I loved learning all about fairies through Lizzie’s questions. She reminds me of my daughter when she was little and loaded with a million and one questions from where do fairies come from to what’s Tinker Bell’s favorite color. Since Lizzie only hears bells tinkling when Tinker Bell speaks, she uses a variety of charades and hand movements to answer Lizzie’s questions.

Like all Disney movies, the music is amazing. The flute music is haunting and delicate and in reminds me of the pipes of Pan. The animation is outstanding and the Flower Fairies seem to come alive. The movie will appeal not only to the little girls in your life but to everyone in the family. There is a dangerous boat ride over a waterfall and an almost car crash. This is truly a movie the whole family can enjoy!

The 2-Disc combo pack includes a Blu-ray and DVD. Each has the feature film and bonus deleted scenes, all new music video “How to Believe” by Bridgit Mendler, and two bonuses titled Design a Fairy House and Fairy Field Guide Builder that will let your child (or yourself) experience even more Tinker Bell! The movie runs 77 minutes plus bonuses.

This is the third Tinker Bell DVD: Tinker Bell, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure and now Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue. Tinker Bell was honored with her very own star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame on September 21st. Tinker Bell’s star naming coincided with the release of this DVD.
