Paul Rodriguez Presents Comedy Rehab is a stand-up comedy show hosted by Paul Rodriguez and also featuring Gene Pompa, Shayla Rivera, and Manny Maldonado. The intro act is also by Paul Rodriguez and contains a number of flashbacks to behind-the-scenes events.
The comedy routines on Paul Rodriguez Presents Comedy Rehab run 85 minutes in length and the disc has over two hours of comedy when you add the bonus features, including behind the scenes and bonus concert acts by Dennis Gaxiola and Benny Martinez. Paul Rodriguez Presents Comedy Rehab was filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Of the four performers, Rodriguez has the longest routine. His act is funny and relatively clean and gives you an interesting insight into growing up Latino American. Gene Pompa has the shortest routine and his act is funny although rather disjointed in a random sort of way. It doesn't seem to have a theme. I really enjoyed Shayla Rivera's routine. She gives insight as not only a Latino American wife and mother but has degrees in aeronautics and psychology. The way she works it all together makes her routine stand out. I found her to be the most enjoyable comic of the entire program. Manny Maldonado is the fourth performer. He does a really funny imitation of kids running through a sprinkler and he really keeps moving during his routine; he's a very high energy comedian.
There is some explicit language in the comedy routines although much of it is in Spanish. My high school Spanish is a bit rusty but my husband had no problem following along with the Spanish he picked up in Houston. It certainly doesn't take away from the performances, but I'm sure it would be more enjoyable if I could have followed along with what they were saying.
