When I heard that Blizzard 2011 meant that me and my four kids were literally going to be snowed in for at least two whole days, I knew that I needed some help, both physically and emotionally.

The DVD Jump into Spring gave me just what I needed to get through those two days with everyone’s sanity intact. Since I have four kids from ages 8 years to 11 months, it isn’t easy to find something that everyone will enjoy watching. Even though this DVD is marketed to the preschool set (ages 1 to 5), each of my kids found at least one of the eight episodes to his or her liking.

While the snow fell outside, we thought about spring’s arrival inside with Thomas and Friends, Fireman Sam, Barney, Bob the Builder, Kipper, Roary the Racing Car, Angelina Ballerina and Timmy from Timmy Time.

I really appreciate the multiple-episode format of this DVD. Everyone had a chance to pick their favorite show to watch, yet because the episodes are so short, it wasn’t a marathon movie session for us.

Some of the shows were new to me, so I like that Hit! Entertainment combines known favorites like Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder, with some of the lesser known characters like Kipper and Roary the Race Car.

Now that we are back to life as usual, I still like to have this movie in my arsenal to pull out when I need 20 minutes to put dinner on the table or finish getting myself ready to go out the door. The episodes are short but they satisfy each of my kids’ entertainment cravings. Because my kids like these shows so much, I think I would have liked two episodes from each of the shows, just because some of the episodes are very short.

Regardless, I highly recommend this for spring vacation help, for short or long car trips and as an Easter basket filler.
