Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has its first Blu-ray 3D release with A Christmas Carol, as interpreted by award winning director, Robert Zemeckis. Zemeckis received Best Director for Forrest Gump in 1994. A Christmas Carol stars Jim Carrey (Yes Man, Horton Hears a Who) playing the roles of Ebenezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet to Come. Also starring are Gary Oldman (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Colin Firth (Love Actually, The Accidental Husband) and Robin Wright (State of Play, Forrest Gump).

This is the classic story of A Christmas Carol with Ebenezer Scrooge being taken on a journey through three different Christmases to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A Christmas Carol has some seriously fantastic animation and special effects but still holds closely to Charles Dickens’ original story of A Christmas Carol. You cannot have a movie with Jim Carrey as the star without having some of his signature humor as part of the movie. While the director holds true to Dickens’ story line, the special effects can be really creepy at times. If you’re expecting a family friendly G movie, you’re in for a surprise. A Christmas Carol is rated PG and you may want to think twice before watching this one with young children. Older kids will find themselves caught up in the action, animation and special effects while hopefully also learning something about the real meaning of Christmas.
