Most people are familiar, at least in some respect, with the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Over the years, there have been several adaptations of this beloved story from animation to film, plays to television. Now Disney Animation is rereleasing the lovable portrayal of Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge, and Goofy and Jiminy Cricket as the wise ghosts in a delightful holiday DVD collection that is sure to hold a cherished spot in any family library.

In addition to Mickey's Christmas Carol, also included are three other wondrous short films. "Pluto's Christmas Tree" which is sure to bring tons of laughter at the antics of Pluto as he tries to chase those pesky chipmunks Chip and Dale from Mickey's Christmas tree. "The Small One," which is a delightful and heartwarming story of a young boy who must find a new home for his beloved donkey, who has become aged and no longer able to hold his own on the farm. Viewers will smile when they discover who the new owners come to be. "Santa's Workshop" which is one of Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies and so much fun to watch for kids and adults alike. As the elves get toys made and packed up, Santa gets ready for his big night by reading and checking off his list of good and bad boys and girls.

Each film short is tons of fun and enjoyable for all ages. It is a DVD that is sure to be watched again and again – be it the holiday season, or any time of the year. Each short contains a wonderful lesson, portrayed in a way that will engross even the youngest viewer. For adults, watching this collection is sure to take the viewer down memory lane, as the animation contains that "aged" quality and look to it. These shorts were created during a simpler time, yet they remain alive and well in many hearts and remind us that there is goodness and simple fun in life.

On a personal level, I adore watching this DVD again and again, which is a good thing considering my three-year-old son is a huge fan of Mickey Mouse and loves to watch this particular DVD. My seven-year-old daughter's favorite is "The Small One" and when it comes on, she stops, plops down and watches. What a wonderful and delightful way to spend some quiet family time together.

Disney remains an all-important staple in entertainment, and Disney Animation Collection 7: Mickey's Christmas Carol is perfect to add to an existing collection or beginning a new on.
