"DIY" stands for do-it-yourself. A famous TV show called This Old House was a DIY show hosted by Bob Vila. Bob and his crew would film home improvement projects delivering a deeper look into how these projects were managed and performed.

If you look at the success of Home Depot its clear that people are taking a serious interest in doing their own work. Home Depot even offers classes to teach how to install ceramic tile or how to build a deck. The average Joe could go into a store and pick out the materials as well as ask questions about how he should prepare for the project.

The web has seen a tremendous amount of demand for DIY type content from how to videos, and places catering to the DIY enthusiast. A community called Etsy which allows people to market their handmade goods has seen a tremendous amount of success.

Whether you are currently doing some DIY projects, or you are just interested in watching how others figure this stuff out, its no doubt a way to save money and show off your newly found talents.

This is the punk way to do it, right? … write, record, mix, master and release a new song in a single night! Here it is, Trouble and Turmoil.

P.S. There’s nothing political about it.

Howard, I liked it! It was a good song and I liked the stripped down aspect. I would love to hear it w/ minimal drums and a warm almost muddy bass in there.

Check out some of my ditties.

Andy … you’re too kind … you’re like a real musician and shit (I listened to your songs). I’m just a blogger having fun.

No bass. No drums. Just me and my guitar.

i liked it too…but i kept hear rockabill-ish brushes on a snare in my head to go along with it.

but that’s my head, not yours.

truly punk, tho, would be using an old four-track tape machine.

    you use a computer?

oh man I’m the farthest thing from a real musician. I just play w/ real musicians haha. I’m just a horn player. Seriously though, you’re a good song writer.

will get to both of your creations – I have a bunch of musical stuff I have to ponder and don’t want to be distracted from giving you guys my full attention. Thanks, EO

Cool Eric. I’ve been awol for a couple of days so I haven’t seen this thread since I posted on the 25th. Let me know what you think then. The first song I recorded myself on an old ADAT machine then dumped the tracks into Sonar for editing. I remixed it since then when I got new studio monitors so I brought up the low ends a little, but it still kicks.
