Wishing to quell any "worry, panic, confusion, mass hysteria, riots in the streets, Armageddons, etc…" Atlus sends word that the North American servers for this week's Action RPG Demon's Souls will not be live until the official launch day of October 6 (Tuesday).
If you were lucky enough to snag a copy of the game early, good for you! However, you will see a PSN error if trying to connect before Tuesday. Just sit tight, because you can start your adventuring offline, and then join the world of dead people in a few days.
Demon's Souls is an Action RPG developed by From Software and is being published in North America by Atlus USA. Like most offerings by Atlus, gamers can grab some great extras for pre-ordering and purchasing the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes a full strategy guide for the game and an embossed slipcase. For pre-orders, you get a 40-page art book and a soundtrack CD.
Set in the Kingdom of Boletaria, players venture through five distinct areas in the game, accessible by archstones in the hub, the Nexus. The game offers a wide variety of starting classes, though you can always decide to build your character to your liking, giving your barbarian the ability to cast magic, for example. Play the game by yourself or jump online to help out others — it is always helpful to have two or three people with whom to topple the enormous demons in the game.
