death magnetic

Death Magnetic is the ninth studio album released by American heavy metal band Metallica. The album was released in September 2008, the band's first album in five years. It is the first album to feature Robert Trujillo on bass. Trujillo replaced Jason Newstead, who replaced founding bass player Cliff Burton. Newstead left the band before 2003's St. Anger was released. Producer Bob Rock played bass on that album.

Death Magnetic was produced by noted producer-turned-label executive Rick Rubin. The band worked on the album between April of 2007 and May of 2008. After experimenting with their sound on albums in the 1990s, Death Magnetic is considered by many critics to be the sound of the band returning to the sound they made classic on albums like Master of Puppets (1986) and Ride The Lightning (1984).

The album is 10 tracks long and includes the single "The Day That Never Comes," which reached #1 in the U.S. on Billboard Magazine’s “Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks” chart.

Death Magnetic was greeted with numerous positive reviews, including those from Rolling Stone, AllMusic, Entertainment Weekly, and BC Magazine.
