It’s not easy having extra money these days. We’re in the middle of a horrible economy with no idea of when things will get better. Once you’ve paid the rent, car note, electric and water bill you barely have enough money for groceries. So how in the world can you possibly go out on a nice date?

You don’t have to risk your happiness just because of finances. Anyone can date and have a great time if they do it in a way that fits their budget. Being broke doesn’t mean you have to be lonely. It also doesn’t mean you have to give up going out or entertaining a potential mate if you choose to. You just have to get a little creative with your options.

Below are activities anyone can do on a date no matter their budget. You’ll have a wonderful time but best of all you’ll end up spending only a few dollars or none at all.

Picnic in the Park:

What’s more romantic than sitting under the shade eating sub sandwiches and sweet lemonade? Shooting the breeze with your date and relaxing under the sun? A picnic in the park is the perfect date for budget crunchers. You can grab some sandwiches from your favorite sandwich shop or just whip up some on your own. Going to the park is free so you won’t break the bank and you’ll have fun at the same time.

Community Center Activities:

You can find tons of free events at your local community centers. These could include free plays, art shows, swimming competitions, sporting events and dancing. Most community centers will have something free you can take advantage of but if not free they are sure to offer something fun for a lot less than your average date.

Church Events:

Churches are always throwing events to raise money within the community. Churches host barbecues, festivals, banquets, sporting events, shows and more. All you’re out is a few dollars for donations but you get an engaging date in return.

School Sports:

If you and your date love sports but can’t afford to go to a professional game, take your date to a school game. Schools have various types of sports for anyone’s interest. You’ll have the excitement of a pro game without the hassle and traffic and you’ll stay within your budget.

All-You-Can-Eat Contests:

Maybe your town is having a food contest. Talk about an interesting date. You won’t spend much money because all you have to do is watch the competition. A lot of these contests coincide with carnivals and carnivals are a wonderful, inexpensive place to go for a date. You’ll never run out of activities at a carnival and best of all you’ll have money in your pocket at the end of the evening.

Local Band Concerts:

If you love concerts but can’t spare the cash to see Lady Gaga then why not go to a concert of a local band? You’ll enjoy live music while showing your support. A lot of these bands perform at outside venues and the admission fees range from free to very cheap. So if you and your date love live music you’ll wanna put this option on the top of your list.

Being broke doesn’t mean you can’t go out on dates and have fun. The key is being creative and working within your means. The more creative you are, the more opportunities you will find.
