CV (often seen as "C.V." or lowercase, "cv"), is an abbreviation of the term, "Curriculum Vitae"; translated literally from Latin as, 'the course of one's life' and in French as "summary."
When seeking employment, a CV is typically an introduction of an applicant's skills, employment history, and education background, listed in reverse-chronological order.
Typically, many writing professionals advise a CV to be no longer than 2 – 3 pages in length. Often, students / graduates may only be able to promote their experience on one page, subsequently increasing the length of their CV as their career progresses. On the other hand, a senior executive with an extensive employment background may well find they require a longer CV to properly promote their skills, experience and associated achievements.
