Work and Headaches

It's all too familiar. The not-so friendly jab of pain in the back of the neck. Glancing at the clock and seeing it's only 6:30pm. Work ends at 9pm. Wondering how two and a half hours of pain can be endured. The temperature, already too high, seems to skyrocket. Sweat pops out across the forehead.

And of course, the clock slows to a trickle. Each hour becomes an eternity. All the mind can focus on is how each beat of the heart makes the head pound worse and worse. Of course, the stomach starts to twist whenever the body makes any sudden movements, like sitting down or standing up. Or walking. But the heat makes standing still torture, too.

Of course, it can't be forgotten that it's a work enviroment. Customers asking questions, most of them the hard kind that requires thinking. Not exactly a strong point at the moment. Bending down to find products for customers never fail to make the body almost faint from the blood rushing to and from the head in conjunction with the pain.

And the time still moves slow.

Only an hour and 10 minutes to go.

peace.
