When Truth Becomes Irrelevant. - Page 2

Right now in my office 85% of the employees are overweight - more than 50% are obese and several are morbidly obese. On top of that at least 25% are on diabetes medication.

This is not a small problem - this is a HUGE problem. If these folks would rather have their cake and eat it too - and then keel over dead long before their time, I suppose that's their right. But as other people's weight begins to affect how our planes fly as well as our healthcare costs, it's becoming a large problem for everyone. But with very few (and I mean very few) exceptions - weight is an individual problem. I will be the first to say that it is our culture that is making us so fat, and those who buck the trend and choose health are facing a difficult struggle, but it is still their responsibility.

But I'm sorry, when you are faced with a doctor's commentary and advice about your health and your first inclination is to complain about the doctor, then you need look no further for why this woman is the way that she is. It's a level of abdication of responsibility that is staggering, but all too common these days.

The fact that she was offended and decided to file a complaint rather than take responsibility for her own condition is deplorable. And the fact that the State board did not back the doctor and actually went ahead with the investigation is sickening. THIS is where our morals are eroded and this is why our culture is bankrupt.

When our citizens act like 1st graders and we allow them to get away with it, is it any wonder that children are in charge of our schools and we get all our marching orders from lawyers and politicians rather than ourselves.

Simply saying that I agree feels empty, but you've said this perfectly. So much of what is wrong with our society boils right down to that simple refusal to take responsibility, and the trend of blaming others. When your doctor can't be honest with you... what's left?

"What's gone wrong with this Country?",you ask... Well, People don't want anyone to tell them anything. Not how to live, pray, work, love, drive, etc... As long as it doesn't interfere with our own shallow, tasteless lives we could care less.We don't think we need guidance for any reason, but look around, People are a mess. We want to sue McDonald's for the Shit we put into our mouths. We want to blame Christianity for the inability to do right within our hearts. Why should she take responsibility for her health...Society and Hollywood doesn't get slim because their worried about being healthy... They do it for the look!! They do it because they will make the cover of People magazine!!This is a time of selfishness. Hollywood gives to causes for self rightousness. People don't care about one another. Do you think anyone close to her ever cared enough to say anything?? NO, I bet the doctor was the first person. The lack of depth on any level i.e; entertainment, relationships, religion for the pursuit of materialism is what brings us to this situation. People don't see Credibility anymore in the Health field because alot of Doctors have inaccurately diagnosed patients and walked away with a slap on the wrist. On top of that, as Americans, we are paying through the nose for healthcare and the quality of that healthcare has gone down the tubes.
That's what I see... It all links together.

I just got hired at a place where they told me I could be fired for telling a joke, wearing jewelry or a logo, or show any form of disrespect to anybody there.

If you can get through work without showing anyone disrespect in any form, then you are one of the most powerful people I know - good luck!
