Wanted: Two Chubby Brits

Wanted: Two chubby British teachers willing to pit themselves against two chubby American teachers in an all-out cyber battle to conquer corpulence. Sense of humor optional.

At the start of the New Year, I (like many people) jumped on the let's-try-and-lose-some-weight resolution bandwagon. Technorati alone shows more than 5,000 posts related to shedding pounds.

This year, though, I decided to take my weight loss resolution a step further. After I read a post from a teacher cyber-buddy of mine about his effort to lose weight using the Wii fitness program, I thought he and I should start our own blog to chronicle our weight loss battle. In our fitness challenge, my friend Joel is using Wii fitness technology to help him, and the sad-but-not-so-little-me is giving it a go without a Wii. Thus, the name of our blog, CanWiiDoIt?

At the very least, I thought, all of that would be somewhat amusing and might even keep us accountable and force us to really work at this weight loss thing. Then, I thought to my fat self, what would be even better would be to challenge some British teachers to join us. What could possibly be better than a healthy challenge?

Now, I'm not trying to cast aspersions on our friends across the pond, but I figured there had to be a few chubby teachers over there. After all, this is the country that eats beans for breakfast, has that scary You Are What You Eat show, and gives government assistance to that family who said they were too fat to work.

So, I issued a challenge on my fitness blog.

Nothing.

I then issued the challenge to a couple of British teacher bloggers I follow.

Nothing. No takers.

Undeterred, I followed up with a challenge on the London Times SchoolGate site.

Still nothing. Nada. Zip.

Surely, not all the teachers over there are Skinny Minnies. Surely, they don't all look like Victoria Beckham (the former Posh Spice).  Surely, they can't all be perfect.

Jeez Louise, now I'm starting to feel discouraged.

If we don't get a couple of takers soon, I may have to start lobbing our arsenal of "your mum's so fat" jokes…

Do you know any good ones?
