VOIP is here

Last week's lead story in the New York Times Circuits section is headlined, "A Voice in the Calling Wilderness."

David Leonhardt, the reporter, decided to try VOIP for his main phone line, and got unlimited local and long distance service for $38 a month, taxes included. Also included: voice mail and caller ID. Bet that's a lot less than you're paying. Me too.

An accompanying article lists the various VOIP providers and their service plan details. I may try it out myself.
