Veggie Tales

I think vegetanarianism would be a lot more appealing if it were'nt for the people involved. Like PETA. "Animal rights campaign compares murdered women to meat" Just read the story, I'll still be here when you get back.

Why, when people say they are making an ethical decision about their behavior, do they not claim "because it allows me to feel smug and superior, and I get great pleasure and pride in my virtue".

Nope, it all comes down to ethics. Which is just another form for "God told me to".

And of course, if you are full of virtue, you can work it off by joining the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Suppression of Vice.

Practical problems require practical solutions. If you read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, you discover that the problematic issues of treating animals as a commodity were developed because of the potato.

Business practices developed for field crops such as deskilled migrant labour, chemical treatments to increase productivity, massive vertical and horizontal capitalization, mechanization of every phase, these were all developed to bring us the french fry.

If you support this system when you eat a soybean, you are just as guilty as someone eating a hamburger.

So what's the practical solution? Or like Foghorn Leghorn, do you have your pride to keep you warm?
