Vampire Hunting is Tax Exempt?

If you think your day is going badly just remember it can always be worse. I woke up today suffering from a bad day so it is safe to assume you are suffering as well. Bad days seem to be a universal phenomenon and you suffer from it until you find someone suffering worse than you. My bad day is over I suppose and as you read this so is yours. Wesley Snipes is having a much worse day.

The Associated Press is reporting today that Wesley Snipes has been indicted on eight counts of tax fraud. It seems that Mr. Snipes has received $12 million in tax refunds for the years 1996 and 1997 that he should not have received. In addition to this, he has also not filed any tax returns at all for the years 1999 through 2004. He is basically looking at upwards of sixteen years in jail. That would probably mean the end of the 44 year old actor’s action career.

The question I have is was this done with his knowledge or was he the victim of letting other people handle his money. The AP is reporting that he used “accountants with a history of filing false returns to reap payments for their clients” to file his returns. The Justice Department already filed suit against the person who filed the report in 1997, but Snipes was not included in that suit.

The AP further reports that the IRS is looking for him and that he has not been taken into custody yet because they do not know where he is right now. This only makes this looks bad for Wesley. He already got turned down from entering South Africa in 2005 because he tried to enter on a forged passport. Perhaps he was looking to escape this coming indictment or it was just another oversight for the actor. Either way it appears that he is in a lot of trouble right now.
