Tucker Paisley Creates Handbags With a Personal Touch

It's tough finding the perfect clutch. Whenever I go searching for one, they are too small, too overdone, or too oddly casual (Le Sport Sac, for one). Tucker Paisley brings us the Emma clutch in their new 2007 line — possibly the most perfect clutch ever.

"We wanted to do something different from what was out there, which was mostly leather bags with lots of stuff on them — jewels, fringe, hardware etc.," says Tracy Fredkin, one the creators of Tucker Paisley. "We were going for a more classic look, but still wanted to create a bag that would be interesting enough in itself to accessorize your outfit."

The Emma clutch is certainly classic. Simple and sleek, free from adornments, the envelope clutch offers enough room to carry your necessities, but is still slender enough to be tucked under your arm. The size works for daytime; the glossy patent finish and rich colors work for night.

Let's not forget about the paisley portion of Tucker Paisley. All of their bags incorporate their signature paisley print in some way. While their debut line used the paisley print as the focus, future pieces (like the Emma clutch) will incorporate the paisley as more of an accent: linings, purse straps, and more.

"We wanted to reinvent an old pattern in a way that would be new and fun and more modern," Tracy tells Spork Fashion. "We decided on paisley because we liked the general look of that pattern and thought we could reinvent it with some design changes and color combinations that would create a fresh, modern take on paisley." Their paisley print is uniquely designed and printed on the fabric exclusively for the company - all right here in Los Angeles. "It gives us a lot of flexibility," Tracy says.
