Ok, first of all, I didn't call you stupid. I was merely referring to the thing you said. Second of all, it doesn't really matter to me whether Avril started the boyfriend-bashing trend. Someone would've started it anyway, and it happened to be Avril, so good for her. To me, voice and execution of songs is far more important than songwriting ability. While Avril's songwriting ability may be good to you, I doubt you could sincerely say that you feel the same way about her singing. That being said, I feel that Kelly is more talented, and I obviously prefer Kelly to Avril.

I admit that some of her performances sucked at the beginning of her career and that her vocals were not really good, but now she really can sing. To Kellyfan06 : Honestly, I'm not sure when was the last time she was nominated for an award, but I'm not into those awards shows and stuff. I don't know much about the awards she won, but I know Avril won "Best Pop/Rock Artist" in 2004 at the World Music Awards (besting Alanis Morissette, Maroon 5, and others which I don't remember) and she also won 3 Junos in 2005 ("Artist of the Year", "Best Pop Album", and "Fan Choice Award") besting Simple Plan, Céline Dion, and others. She (along with K-Os) owned the Junos. I don't think she won anything this year, but she hasn't released anything new since spring 2005. And I've heard she was nominated for 8 Grammys in 2002 or 2003. Though she didn't win any of them.

To kellallthe way : Well, maybe Avril just didn't really feel the song, or didn't like how it sounded or something. Just because she "gave" it to Kelly doesn't necessary mean that she couldn't sing it.
Where is Avril? She was very busy this year, she has been signed by Ford Models, she was a voice actor in the movie "Over The Hedge", played in "Fast Food Nation" and "The Flock", got married this summer, and worked on her third album. She didn't have much free time in her hands so she couldn't make a 5th video for her second album and perform on TV shows and stuff. And by the way, her songs are still played on the radio, even old songs from her debut album.

I think its funny how we all keep coming back to check this. So what Kelly toured to please her fans. Avril what stayed hidden behind in the studio. Also Kelly is recording her 3rd album and it will hit stores early 07. i dont think ive heard an Avril song on the radio in about 6 months. Kelly however we are still hearing stuff from her first album. Avril has probally had #1 hits but has her debut single ever went from #52 to #1 in a week probally not.

Wow. Ya'll are getting very hot and bothered about two singers! I'm a huge Kelly fan, but I like Avril too. While I agree that Avril CAN sing live, Kelly is by far and away a more consistent singer with a better range. I also read, and was slightly disturbed, by the weight issues being dragged up among all the bickering above. Avril's skinny, clearly she's just like that, and Kelly's curvy, why has anyone a need to make either out to be better because of their weight. One thing though, the whole punk skater thing was not started by Avril in 2002!!! Several of my friends have been dressing that way for years, it's ludicrous to say Kelly copied her by wearing a tie. With regards to comparing them as writers, for one thing Breakaway is not one of my fav's on Kelly's 2nd album, Addicted is. Anyone out there questioning Kelly's writing prowess need only listen to it or as has been mentioned 7 of the tracks on Breakaway. For that matter ya'll could just wait and see what she delivers with the 3rd album. I've heard rough versions of some of her new stuff and it's amazing!!! Avril is also a good writer, both her albums prove that. I think the VMA incident has been blown out of the water, in fact I doubt it could even be referred to as an incident. We could be reading it all wrong, or Avril could have had a lapse in judgement. If she was being stuck up well... it's in the past, they've obviously moved past it. Anyway, that's my say. Everyone needs to seriously calm down on here, WOW!

I agree that around the Let Go time, Avril was much more synthesized than she should have been. But now she isn't. Listen to her live NOW. She has grown a lot.
But I do have to say that Kelly is a better singer. But she is a REALLY boring performer. I went to a Kelly Concert and I was like "Omg, is it time to go home yet?"
But Avril's concert was the best night of my life. She is a MUCH better performer.

Avril writes songs that relate to people and is not afraid what other people feel. She also has a great voice. Her best song is Nobody's Fool. Kelly on the other hand also writes songs that can relate to people. She has a voice that is great and strong. If I could have I deffinately would have voted for her for the full two to three hours the polls were open to vote on American Idol. She was great. I think her best songs were Addicted and Gone.

Anyone hear Kelly's new single Never Again? Amazing song that everyone can relate to. It has great lyrics and may i point out she wrote all the songs on her upcoming album called My December. Its a story of her life from the start of the album to the end. Will hit stores Summer 07. Tour to come shortly after.
I admit i enjoy one of Avril's new songs from her album but its getting old quick. Girlfriend on the other hand is one of the worst songs ever written.
I've watched Avril on stage a few times and honestly have to say i fell asleep. So boring.
Kelly on the other hand involves her fans in the show with sing-a-longs. Name one artist that can run around for 2 hours and not be exhausted while singing. The only reason Avril can do it cause shes not actually singing. Ever pay attention to any of the videos of her performing. Her mouth is a half a second off from her music.
By the way Avril's voice over for over the hedge sucked. Didnt show enough emotion with the character and was not even funny when she should have been.

Ick...I never liked Kelly...Her songs annoy the crap out of me. But thats just my opinion, I'm not gonna start a whole long paragraph about bashing her. I love Avril though. She has more personality and she's funny too. I just love that she doesn't care what others think of her and that she's actually her own person. If it weren't for American Idol, Kelly probably would still be a nobody....
