I'm trying to say you need to chill out. Its just opinions. It's not something people need to fight over. My opinion is I think Kelly is better than Avril and obviously yours is the opposite. Have you ever been to a Avril concert live. I suggest you go to one if you havent and you will see she's not great live. However if you go to a Kelly concert live its awsome and im sure other Kelly fans can vouche for that.

So Avril wrote one song on Kellys Album Kelly wrote 7 of the ones on her album and also wrote some on her previous album and 3 of those songs that were on her recent album "Breakaway" were #1 Hits and dont try to pull the whole well Kelly's album is named Breakaway though the reason the album is named breakaway is because Kelly was trying to Breakaway from her American Idol roots and the title of the song matched with what she was trying to do and i think she has more than did what she planned on doing

Kelly has a better voice than Avril, but I still prefer Avril because her voice has character and is more unique. Kelly's voice is very similar to Christina Aguilera's, in my opinion. Maybe Kelly sings better, but Avril is a better songwriter and a better musician than Kelly. They both are very talented, though.
By the way, for people who say Avril "is not great live", that video of Avril singing "Sk8er Boi" is very old (and wasn't bad in my opinion). Avril has improved her voice a lot since then. You should listen to her performance from the 2006 Olympics. It was a really good performance. Also, I have read plenty of good reviews about Avril's last tour (Bonez Tour) concerts (and there were even some from parents who "fell in love with her"), so I doubt she is as bad as you think she is. You should get to know her better before bashing her. I know that she's not the world's best singer (Kelly neither by the way), but the girl can sing very well and rock out.

I dont think Kelly sounds like Christina A. at all if anything Avril and Kelly sound similar. Kelly won the hearts of the Judges of American Idol by her unique voice so i dont know how you can say her voice is not unique. As for character well lets let her 4 octave range decide that one. Kelly plays guitar although rarely on tour because she is so busy having so much presence on the stage. I susgest all you Avril fans go to a Kelly Clarkson concert then you will see who you like more

This thread is ridiculous. Avril is a synthesized whore, and that whole punk attitude of hers is laughable. She seems to be trying too hard to be what she can never be: a real singer. Kelly, on the other hand, has won 2 Grammys and countless other awards. Mariah Carey has said that Kelly's "voice floored [her]". Christina Aguilera, when asked about what she thought of Kelly singing Miss Independent, said something about Kelly doing the song proud. Ask any qualified judge of music on the street who's better and they'll obviously say Kelly.

And yes, I've heard Avril performing live several times (I've never been to her concerts but I've watched videos and listened to mp3s from her concerts) and she's great, she sings better live than on her records (now), in my opinion. By the way, a singer doesn't need to sing like Kelly or Céline to be a good one. I'm not saying that you have to like Avril, but at least, have some respect for her and for her fans.

So this blog is to compare the talents b/w Avril and Kelly...I'd go with Avril anytime. She has a unique voice and such awesome vocals. Kelly copies Avril to the brim. Twas Avril who started the trend of bashing boyfriends in her music videos and songs. Kelly followed Avril's style but with more polished videos and thats why shez famous today with 2 Grammys or whatever...Avril is definitely the one to be congragulated for Kelly's success so far!

Anyway, in my opinion, Avril's songwriting skills suck. Yes she did write Breakaway, but note how Breakaway was one of the weakest songs off Kelly's sophomore CD. Kelly's self-written songs were so much better, e.g. Because Of You, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Addicted... I'm looking forward to Kelly's 3rd album, most of or perhaps all the songs of which will be written/co-written by Kelly herself. You may argue that Avril is more talented than Kelly, but the music industry has spoken: Kelly is now a Grammy-winner, while Avril remains just another nominee.

About lyrics quality, maybe Kelly's are a bit better than Avril's, but I'd like to hear a song entirely written by Kelly so that we could compare that song with one of Avril's. Though we may have different opinions about lyrics since it depends on how much we can relate to them.

Kelly wrote the song Because of You when she was 16 thats one she wrote by herself the only thing Ben Moody and David Hodges did was change around some stuff to make lyrics flow and other than that they worked on the music and that song was what number on the charts yea thats right it was #1 also Kelly and Avrils styles are completely different yes Kellys lastest album sounds sorta like Avrils but Kelly still has soul in her sound until Avrils also kellys next album is not going to be like her first 2 albums so i cant wait till it hits stores
