The Perfect Christmas Gift...

Honestly...I was just trying to figure out how to buy the latest Sex Mob cd (over at ropeadope) when I stumbled across an ad for a very interesting item.

The Cell Phone Jammer.

I knew that they had started using more large-scale versions of these things in Japan (for theatres and restaurants), but this one is a nice little handheld, disguised as a cell phone:

Make sure you have this phone jammer with you whenever you are out and about as you never know when you are going to need to use it. With this cell phone jammer switched on in your pocket you will be able to silence those anti-social types who insist on using their mobile phones in the most indiscrete way, the beauty is that they will not know it is you that has switched them off!, all they will see is that their signal has dropped on their phone. When you have had your meal or enjoyed your coffee in peace and quiet, you can then switch off your phone jammer and continue on your way completely stress free.

Hmmm....might be fun.

For every technology there is anti-technology - is it more rude to use the cell phone in an undiscreet manner, or to anonymously jam those who do?

i'm pretty sure the jamming is equally as rude. i just kinda like the idea of it.

    ...like Phone Bashing

I would say temporary jamming is much more socially acceptable than permanent destruction, which is clearly criminal vandalism.

I think this is a bad idea. There are a lot of people out there who can use phones responsibly and discreetly without bothering a bunch of people.

There are a small percentage of rude people who can't be bothered to have courtesy for others around them when they are using their phones.

Finally there are crazy anti-cell-phone people who can't deal with any use of cell phones at any time because they have made it their personal mission to make their opinion be known to the world.

Who is more self-righteous and obnoxious? The cellphone users or the anti-cellphone people? The largest percentage of people who fall somewhere in the middle are annoyed to hell by both of these types. We don't need cell phone jammers, we need polite people to use phones and polite people to remind people when it is acceptable to use a phone and when it is not.

I'd prefer one of these:- it is small, portable, rechargeable, and looks like a real phone. That way people may think I was talking on a phone, but I was really giving myself peace and quiet! I think jaming is much better than crushing the user's phone...
