For those of you who have doubts about the often repeated notion that the U.S. media has a liberal bias, you may find evidence to support your suspicions in a new book by David Brock entitled, "The Republican Noise Machine." A self-described former right-wing journalist, his perspective on the issue is enlightening.
Of course, anyone who has attentively watched the FOX News Channel or listened to the innumerable conservative radio programs (e.g., Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, etc.), further proof of a widespread right-wing bias is not necessary. The irony of the "Liberal media" myth is that conservatives have successfully brainwashed the majority of the American public into believing it, despite how obvious it is that there is indeed a bias, but that it is really in their favor. This is another example of the right-wing mantra, "repeat the lie enough times until it is seen as truth."
In his book you can read about the concerted right-wing campaign to deceive the American public, which has been ongoing for years.
"I know there is a Republican Noise Machine because I was once part of it...I forwarded the right-wing agenda not as an open political operative or advocate but under the guise of journalism and punditry, fueled by huge sums of money from right-wing billionaires, foundations, and self-interested corporations."
You can read an excerpt from his book, or view the video of an interview he did with Katie Couric on MSNBC's website.
He also has a website he created to shine a light on the lies and distortions put out by the right-wing media. His website is: Media Matters For America

the leberal media hype is simply this.
right wingers are loud and consistant. you have to hand it to them for that. they are very organized in the letter writing/complaining biz.
if they scream "liberal media" loud enough, the media will back off a story and change the views.
if the media were so liberal, they wouldn't have jumped on the "why don't we go kick some ass" comcept that george wussie bush promoted after 9/11.
the democrats have to fight fire with fire. if they yell, we yell louder.

This story has risen to the top again -- November 2, 2006.
And the jury is in -- the Big Three are slanted WAY to the left. They favor Democrats and liberals in 77% of the stories they produce, while only giving a positive nod to 12% of stories dealing with Republicans.
The CMPA study was conducted by an objective group that simply watched the stories put out primarily by NBC, CBS and ABC.

Maybe it's not that they're biased, but that at the moment, there are fewer liberals/Dems involved in scandals & corruption than the GOP. Y'can't cover what isn't there, after all.
