What the hell did existentialism have to do with complex data structures?
We are separated by thousands of miles, decades of age, and, in one important instance, that danged chromosome. We are the Men and Woman of Mondo, convened once again to mull over this topic: Is a well-rounded education a waste of money? Or should a person just learn what's necessary to take on a career? Is an education a means to an end, or a way to human betterment? Let's find out (or at least start somethin'!)…

I like college although I absolutely hated and still hate secondary school. College education is simply picking a subject and exploring it as much as it is possible for your means to abide that exploration. What I don't like is the officials of business and government overstating what education will do for a person. Education will not make one materially wealthy. And it is a myth that America is rich because of our education. America is wealthy because the rest of world has not been able to produce anything until now. Actually, most of the wealth in America was produced by 8th to 12th grade students who never saw the inside of an university. What has happened is that all of the wealth has become consolidated in a very few hands starting in the 1960's. But college is very pleasant and very entertaining and is a luxury. I have made myself poor seeking to prove that I am as smart as the next person because when I graduated from high school in 1962, I was told that I didn't deserve a job. And if I don't deserve a job, this society should have no quarrel with me enjoying myself with no aim of being a contributor to the establishment. My pleasure is doing and learning new things with no regard to how it helps society.
