Alas, this is not the case for poor Anastasia Volochkova, just fired, by the Bolshoi Ballet, from her position as soloist because she was just too fat. The New York Times, after protracted negotiations with her "people" (hey, Russia's gotten hip, y'know), arranged to measure and weigh her and report its findings. Sophia Kishkovsky noted Ms. Volochkova to weigh in at exactly 109 lbs., way, way too much for her 5'6" frame in ballet-land. On the American body-mass index, she would be considered underweight.
According to the Times' Eleanor Randolph, "a male dancer is said to be laid up somewhere, secretly nursing a back ailment, after trying to hoist Ms. Volochkova during a pas de deux."

Maybe HE'S the one who's underweight. Mr. ballet bozo couldn't lift the ballerina? HE should work out.
Or maybe he's a klutz and forgot to lift with his legs...

unfortunately, someone at her height would be expected to be around 98 pounds in an american ballet
