Tattoos, According To Me. - Comments Page 2

A tattooed tale...

Tonight I feel in an okay mood so I am actually willing to talk about my tattoos. See, my tattoos are kind of personal and I think only I "get them", so I don't like to get into hour long discussions about them. They are me.…

Tattoos... like herpes or HIV, is a gift that keeps on giving.

Get one when you're down and out, P-O'd at someone or whatever, and voila! You have it for the rest of your life!

I've never wanted one - although, in all honesty, I have admired some beautiful and creative designs and artwork.

But you know what's ugly about 'em? Green ink and line art!

If I was ever to get one (an extremely and highly unlikely possibility) it would be in vibrant and living color, and would be photorealistic.

If someone wants line art, why not go with a temp-too, something like henna or maybe even a Sharpie®?

Come to think of it, that'd be an excellent revenue source for those starving tattoo artists!

Imagine... tattoos that fit your mood, or for special occasions!

Now, we're trying how to figure out a way to fry skin without frying it. Why bother with SPF at all? Just slather on some Crisco® and lay out from 10a-2p!

I got my first tattoo when I was 17 - "Daddy's Girl" on my lower back. My father and I had gone through about nine years of intense disagreement - I moved out at fourteen because of how bad it was - and after my parents split up we started talking... and there was suddenly this wonderful feeling of finally being free of the past. Every once in a while the odd person throws a "who's your daddy" at me, which, to be fair, I should have thought of before getting it on my lower back.

My second - and as of yet my only other - tattoo is on the back of my neck, a strawberry for my best friend. Why the strawberry represents our friendship is a long story, but we have been best friends since the ninth grade and my son is named for her older brother - basically I have no doubts whatsoever that we will ever stop being friends.

All of this to say that I absolutely do not regret either tattoos, and I plan to get several more in the future. It is important to me that I be able to cover them in certain situations, but that is a personal decision I have made. I understand that tattoos make some people uncomfortable, but that doesn't make it okay for them to impose their feelings on anyone else. People talking loudly on cellphones on the bus make me uncomfortable and annoyed but it would be incredibly rude for me to say something to them about it.

As for those who would say that you were "trying to make yourself look cool" I don't know how anyone could possibly get that out of your acticle. This is an incredibly brave and upfront piece and you should be very proud to actually have a soul and personality, and to know who you are. Very few people are capable of such honesty.

I think your dragon tattoo is very cool. You're an artist. I like to think people as free as you are happier than I am. Guess happiness can be the price of freedom.

First of all, you alone, without tattoos, are gorgeous. You are so interesting, I love your hair and your body...oh dear. But I love your tattoos, especially because they are all done in gray. I really like that. I like the look of sleeves and I really like that a beautiful girl can wear them with dignity. As for "you'll regret them when you're older", when you're old and wrinkled, I'm pretty sure you won't want to be wearing a bikini, yes? And if you do want to wear bikinis at 90, then you got enough balls to sport some bitchin tattoos as well. I'm 17, about to go to college for writing/journalism and as soon as I turn 18 I'm getting a feather pen on my right side down my ribs, all black and white. And my nose is pierced because when I was 12 years old,the singer of my favorite metal band had a fat ring through his nose and because I'm a reckless youth. so there.

    god you're gorgeous.
