tried atkins with my hubby for 10 days. he gained 2 lbs and I lost 1. I am very sodium sensitive and became swollen from the bacon and sausage and also very constipated. switched to SBD and lost 3 lbs in 3 days. have gone on and off phase I over weekends but ate sensibly. have also cheated by having a capuccino with 1 raw sugar every am. still have lost about 1/2 lb per day when I am on phase I WITH my AM coffee.
I need to lose about 25 lbs and have now lost 10 after 3 weeks. I dont follow any recipes. just watch ingredient list. and cheating with 1 cup of sugared coffee doesnt affect my weight loss but it keeps me on the diet. the only danger to cheating is that it opens up for readdition to sweets. I really noticed my energy level increase on the diet and fall when I cheated with pizza and coke on weekends.
not sure I will move to phase II until I drop another 5 lbs or so. dont get constipated since I eat lots of salad (spinach is great)---atkins limits even salad.
love celery with peanut butter (1 tsp only of the regulare stuff)---forgot how good it was as a kid. love beans like pinto and lentils. soups with these beans and some lean meat are yummy! breakfast is hard since I have little time and I love bread in the am. recently discovered I could buy yummy quiche from my gourmet market and peel the crust off before eating. this and quick egg scrambles with gourmet sausages have been great. nuts are a great snack, especially pistachios---atkins also disallows nuts. easy diet to follow even at restaurants.

Eat less junk and exercise until you sweat.
Too many fat burners are classified as supplements and are not always safe (e.g. Ephedra).
Find a fat burning activity: gardening, chasing your dogs around, dancing, cycling, etc. Harder than a pill, but more effective.

today is the third day, i cant believe it. i'm down 2.5 pounds. i was on the abs diet for 7 days and i gained a pound. i was on atkins, but it just didnt feel right or healthy. this works. for the first time im not incredibly hungry. if feels healthy. day 2 i must admit i was a little bored with the food, i made the riccota and cocoa with sugar repacement and it was ok. i also had a large progresso split pea soup, which would have been a no no on atkins and i still lost 2.5 pounds in two days. i am liking this diet.
