So You Want To Date A ___?

I love it when something randomly catches my eye and makes laugh out loud.

I was on the DailyKos putzing around when I saw this under the advertisements:

It made me giggle. Then I got to thinking...seriously? So I clicked and sure enough - there really is a DemocratMatch.com! In disbelief I wondered...is there a Republican counterpart?

Of course! SingleRepublican.com offers the conservative alternative to liberal dating. From their website:

Conservative American singles, are you frustrated with huge mainstream dating sites? Tired of sifting through thousands of profiles only to find liberals that don't really share your viewpoints on important issues? Well you've come to the right place!
Unlike DemocratMatch.com which states: "Gay/Lesbian Preference? You're welcome here too! Liberal, remember? :)", SingleRepublican.com doesn't seem too open to non-traditional relationships.

Their website seems to be big on flags not...well...you get the idea.

But don't fret my LGBT friends, there are plenty of dating sites for you out there. The personals on Gay.com alone give you a whopping 5,363,727 profiles to browse. And who knows, you might be that lucky person to catch the eye of an in-the-closet Republican and land an internship while you land a date!

In fact, I've come to the conclusion there is a dating site out there for just about everyone. There are sites that help you find your soulmate (while filtering out criminals) and sites that let you virtually 'wink' at or 'poke' people you want to talk to.

For the more 'eccentric' dater there are S&M personals (crack that whip!) and 'Sex and Swinger' personals (do they still pull keys out of a bowl?) while for the dating duds there are sites that tell you how to date and give dating advice.

And of course, there are the sites that try to list all the dating sites they can find.

What's that you say? The democrat/republican/independent straight/gay/bi guy/girl/couple you met online and have been seeing isn't working out? He/she/they have a record/weight problem/fetish/disease they didn't talk about in their online profile?

You want to get even, you say? Yes, there are websites for that too!

At ThePayback.com you can exchange revenge ideas, stories, and even send out dead flowers or a smelly fish for under $20.

I mean after all, you spent at least $20 on the dating service in first place. What's another $20 between ex-friends/lovers/soulmates/flings...?

Reply: At least a 8.2 on my personal, 0-to-10, "Wish I Had Said That" scale. Nice job, Justin.

Reading between the lines of your comments, though, it has a troubling underbelly. I find it not the least bit humorous, though, that in this day of global communications and digital technology, people-to-people connections seem harder and harder to make. We apparently have lost the ability for the most basic of human communcation - just talking, one-to-one - to another human. Now, we apparently, can only make human connections over a digitial medium. Strange.

    Cheers,

    Ron

Reply: Justin, I am personally convinced that the closer technology makes us seem, the more disconnected we actually feel. Interesting phenomenon, if it could be actually proven to be true.

    Cheers,

It's hard to meet people face to face anymore: everyone's indoors blogging!

If you are one of the many that are into bdsm, as an additional part of your life and inner feelings, how and where does one find others with the same mind set?

A list of classified ads, totally free with some form of code, so people can contact others with similar interest and desires would be a great way to go.

    Anyone interested please contact me.
