Peeps were first created in 1953, a result of the Just Born candy company of New York acquiring the Rodda Candy company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Just Born was mainly a chocolate confectionaire but Rodda had a small line of marshmallow products and the rest, as they say, is history.
