Sixthman is Number One!

Sixthman Cruises has just placed Number 1 on 2011 Inc. Magazine Top 500 in the Travel category, and #87 overall on the list of Inc’s “Top 500 Companies,” showing a supremely impressive growth of 2861%. For those unfamiliar with the magazine, Inc. is one of the most read and respected business magazines in the world today, and is consistently leading the pack in insightful, no-fluff, honest business reporting.

The timing on the 2011 Inc. Magazine Top 500 is just about right in that this latest Inc. list covers the past three years. I did my first article on Sixthman almost three years ago, shortly after having the unworthy honor of being invited along on a Sixthman cruise, which you can read about here.  The Simple Man 2009 Cruise was hosted by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I called it phenomenal then and I still think it was phenomenal. But let’s not dwell on my past cruise, let’s talk about to what you should be looking forward. Check Sixthman’s lineup of upcoming cruises.

As evidence that Sixthman deserves to be number one is the fact that some of their cruises are already sold out, despite the fact that they’re months away. So if you see a cruise that you and your honey, or even the whole famn damily want to attend, you’d better git to gittin’, make those reservations, and get ready to sit back and enjoy. Here’s a small sampling of just a few of the musicians who’ve previously appeared or are coming up, in no particular order: KISS, John Prine, Keb' Mo', Lucinda Williams, Greg Brown, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion, Slightly Stoopid, Michael Franti and Spearhead, G. Love & Special Sauce, Citizen Cope, Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Buddy Miller, Loudon Wainwright III, Iris Dement, Shawn Mullins, James McMurtry, Sarah Jaffe, Edwin McCain, Weezer, Maia Sharp, Kid Rock, Barenaked Ladies, Guster, Great Big Sea, Ben Kweller, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Little Feat, Blackberry Smoke, Bonepony, Heather Luttrell, Leroy Powell, and SwampDaWamp.

If it should turn out that cruises are your thing, there are varieties focused on other themes, including Turner Classic Movies TCM Classic Cruise, and the VH1 Best Cruise Ever 2011 Featuring Train, Lifehouse, Colbie Caillat, and The Script.

Also, here’s an interview with the man who came up with the idea and the finished Sixthman product.

I just missed that one on the BC selections offered. I don't recall who got it, but the review should be up shortly.
