- Ukraine's youngest ever mother on record, an 11-year-old girl, has given birth to a healthy baby boy weighing 3.8 kilograms (8.4 pounds), a newspaper reported Thursday.
Surgeons at hospital No. 5 in the eastern city of Kharkiv delivered the infant by Caesarean section on Tuesday, the Fakty daily said, citing the unidentified mother's doctor, Valentyn Gryshchenko.
....The newborn's alleged father is a 26-year-old neighbor who fled fearing criminal charges when he learned of the girl's pregnancy, Fakty said. If convicted of having sexual relations with a minor, the father faces a maximum prison sentence of three years. [AP]

11 YEARS OLD. I was still sitting in front of the TV trying to get Mario to the 5th World but then again when I was 14 I had several pregnant schoolmates, so I should be more outraged than I am.

ME - 2! It's tragic to hear about, really. My younger sister I are 8 years apart and through her I can notice a decline in the behavior. Then I think back to my High School and Junior High experience and I have to wonder, is there really a decline or are these kids just getting better at covering there tracks.
I remember my mindset in those years and you think you know all there is to know ABOUT EVERYTHING. Most of the time these girls target these older men in hopes of gaining merit badges, so to speak. You would think these men would fight them off but they invite this behaviour thinking that it is being done discreetly when actually there is an Elementary full of 11 year olds giggling about someone's pedophilic father.

I don't really buy that, but I know someone is going to say it and I wanted to give you a pre-emptive shot. 11-year-olds should be protected because they aren't old enough to make decisions for themselves.
I also agree with Eric that maybe carrying out the pregnancy wasn't such a hot idea. Prison Justice would be fitting in this case because doing this to an 11 year-old is like doing something to someone against their will. Maybe somebody would do something to this guy against his will.

Well, while we are on the topic of sex crimes, let's look at what is occuring in the good ole U.S.A. This case is not as ugly as Emmet Till's, but his ghost definitely hangs over it. And, no, I am not saying an 18-year-old should not be punished for having sex with a 15-year-old. However, there is something fishy going on here. Most actual rapists don't get 10-year sentences.
I've been following the prosecution of a cult leader who groomed girls for sexual exploitation, also in Georgia, too. Here's an entry from Silver Rights. He is one of those fellows who has declared himself a god.

Hey Diva, are you working on a full-blown story on this? It sounds fishy to me too, especially because the 18 year-old is black and the 15 year-old is white. And a 18 year-old with a 15 year-old doesn't sound quite that bad to me. A Freshman with a Senior isn't exactly scandalous in my eyes.

I will try to blog it tomorrow, Craig. I wish people would stop doing stuff like this. The sex was consensual, for Chrissakes. If there weren't prosecutors who have some bigotry in'em, the boy probably would not have been prosecuted at all. And, sad to say, by doing this, that prosecutor may have helped his electability for future offices.

I agree that 10 years mandatory for consensual sex between an 18 and 15 year-old is preposterous, lacks any semblance of proportionality, and MAY have a racial component. the key elements here are "consensual" and the age difference being only three years. Should the state prohibit such a relationship between an "adult" and a minor? Yes, but the draconian punishment is far worse than the crime in terms of the greater good.

Another thing that I was thinking about, is what if the 18 year-old was a girl and the 15 year-old was a boy? How would that scenario affect you? I think it would be viewed differently than the other way around.

I did get around to blogging this here. The 'extra' aspect is that this boy is considered a troublemaker in his home town. Why? A white family adopted him when he was nine-years-old, scandalizing much of the white community there. Even family members turned against his adoptive parents. So, I think there is clearly a racial element to his troubles. This may be payback for getting out of his place, both in regard to his family and the girl.
These things happen, Eric. The homosexual sex case that went to the Supreme Court involved a white man and a black man. They went into an apartment in a white complex. (Yes, I know there is not supposed to any such thing as a 'white complex.') Neighbors saw a black person, considered his presence suspicious, and called law enforcement. Apparently the pair hadn't locked the door. Police caught them in the act. If there had not been a racial aspect, the case might never have happened to those two people. (The Cal Pundit was the first to notice the racial undercurrent. He beat me to the punch on this one.)
From a legal perspective, I think the Georgia 'seven deadly sins' rationale for mandatory ten-year sentences has got to go.

Right now I am a high school student, grade 9 to be exact. Dew the people in high school now are better at covering their tracks... Where I live, we learn everything about it a soon into high school as the school can allow on our timetables to try and make people understand the maturity you must have to have sex. Unfortunatly theres always that person that wont give a damn and get pregnant, even if it is consentual or not... Animosity is what causes this shit. Its a fact of life.
