Apologies for being late to the party, but last Thursday the Art Newspaper ran a 2,161 word piece by Marc Spiegler about what he sees as a New Trend in Contemporary Art. Dealers without galleries, gasp!
The only problem I see is that is about as old as the hills. See the online version of the Getty's Business of Art: Evidence from the Art Market to read documentary evidence of what is called an "agent" going back at least to at least last century, if not earlier.
He does quote an awful lot of people, so I am certain that he was sincere and earnest in his attempt, but every now and again, you gotta take a step back and look at the forest.
