Podcasting, Cleveland Style

It was cool to pick up our local paper here in Cleveland, The Plain Dealer, to find a well written article on some of the podcasting activity going on locally here in Cleveland. And unlike so many of the articles that I have read via the web and otherwise, this one is a pretty good, and fresh read! They did the necessary homework, and produced an unexpectedly fine article.

At least two local radio stations, WXTM FM/92.3 and WKSU FM/89.7, offer some programming as podcasts.

A podcast is basically a Web log, or blog, presented as audio rather than text. Some early adopters used the term audio blogging. The word "podcasting" first appeared 13 months ago in a London newspaper.

Pretty complete article. I don't think I saw Dave Winer mentioned for his part in the whole podcasting shebang, so I'll insert him properly here!

It was nice to finally read an article on podcasting, that was not only localized, but also did a pretty good job of researching and writing a good article, as opposed to regurgitating the usual suspects that have been name checked and written about in all of the other articles.

I found out about the article shortly after the interviews had been done, and also discovered Jawbone Radio around the same time. For all of the spotlight that they get in the article, it's well deserved - their show is definitely one of my favorites on my listening list.
