PODCAST: From inside the Astrodome with the Hurricane Katrina homeless

A volunteer, Heidi is calling in some news and advice from inside the Houston Astrodome where the New Orleans homeless were bused yesterday.

Her co-blogger Kit Jarrell said she just put the phone next to the computer microphone and hit record. So you'll need to turn the volume up to hear.

The mp3 links from yesterday and today are listed below (Just right click to download or just click and they should play in your browser):

Inside the Astrodome 1 (3.76MB)

Inside the Astrodome 2 (2.31MB)

Inside the Astrodome 3 (3.42MB)

UPDATED: added 5: Inside the Astrodome 5 (8.14MB)

The fourth is some advice on what items they need there and how to get it there ...

Heidi will be back there tomorrow.

She's there to volunteer to help, but she's also calling me by cell to podcast updates to let people know what it's like there and how they can help.

My small town community (Lake Mills in SE Wisconsin) is willing to offer a 3 bedroom apartment, rent free for a year (we could possibly find more). We have a 15 person van available to transport these families to Wisconsin and back again when they are ready. Some one has donated a car, furniture, clothing and all the household items that are needed, (the families can keep everything). There are also many businesses that have offered employment to hurricane victims.

I know it is a long way from home, but we want to do everything that we can to help. Let me know if the families are interested.

[Deleted. Unfortunately, phone numbers are not permitted]
    God bless.
