PETA Protests "Minority" Shooting by Dallas Cops

DALLAS, Texas (Rotters News) — Dallas Police have suffered a number of widely reported humiliations in recent months. Chief Bolton, the first African-American head of the Dallas Police Department, was fired last year for incompetence and favoritism. The Drug Task Force was investigated for tampering with evidence in cases involving numerous minority victims; the FBI found that officers had used bags of white chalk and labeled them as cocaine. Dozens of convictions were overturned due to the investigation, and at least two narcotics officers were fired for their participation in the fraud.

The Dallas Police have never had a good relationship with the city's many minorities; African-American and Hispanic community leaders were successful in getting a City Council Police Review Board in place in the mid-90s, but the Board has since been criticized as having no power.

And on Thursday, an incident occurred to add to the ongoing problems between the Dallas Police and an increasingly distraught minority community.

A 300-pound gorilla broke out of its enclosure and went on a 40-minute rampage through a forest, snatching up a toddler with his teeth and attacking three other people before being shot by Dallas Police officers.

Federal regulators are investigating the Dallas Zoo over Thursday's escape, zoo officials are trying to figure out how the gorilla managed to break out, and animal welfare advocates are questioning whether officers had to kill the beast.

Asked why the police shot the unarmed gorilla, one of the few African-Americans on the Dallas Police force said, "They saw black and they fired. Shoot first, ask questions later. Some of these crackers are loose cannons, but it's nothing new in this department." He added that he preferred to remain anonymous.

A bystander, 70 year old South Oak Cliff resident Raoul Cantu, told reporters, "I don't know why they killed the gorilla. It had its hands in the air and it was sort of smiling. I think it wanted to give up peacefully, but the cops shot it without any warning. They never said, 'surrender or we'll shoot-- nothing.' I think they just got out of hand. And I wouldn't doubt that now they'll say that he was a known dope dealer."

Greetings, Curt Fisher. I can't say I find an entry obviously created to make fun of minority people shot by the police funny at all. Furthermore, I believe anyone who does something like this is tasteless and has profound mental problems, including a lack of empathy for other people. Both attributes are obviously true of Psycho Shark.

As for your own role, Curt, you were here during Al Barger's imposition of David Yeagley on the site and well know this 'gorilla' entry is Psycho Shark echoing Yeagley. Even without that episode, substituting references to black people with references to primates is a very old racist practice I am sure you are familiar with. It hails from the claim Africans are not really people, but some kind of subspecies, which, apparently, Psycho Shark shares with Yeagley and other benighted sorts.

Under the circumstances I can no longer support you or your weblog, Therefore, I will be deleting your blog from the blogroll at Mac-a-ro-nies. I wish you luck in recovery from the depression you say you suffer with. Perhaps it is the reason you are using such poor judgment.

Fisher, sorry 'bout the guilt by association of laughter thing.

McD is a harsh friend with some tough criteria. And she can turn on a pal faster than Rumsfeld turned on Saddam.

I guess she cut the link from Macaloonies.com to your site; You've been deprived of the 2 or 3 views that she gets each day from her other screen name. Bummer.

Don't worry yerself silly though, I'll make it up to you.

Oh, and the CHALK as COCAINE was a real story here in Big D. They tested the inventory of evidence obtained in a number of drug raids, and it turned out to be chalk put there by "overzealous" narcotics officers. I think about 30 innocent people, mostly Hispanics, went free.

(Google also "Tulia, Texas drug arrests" for more examples of your tax dollars at work. In that case, in was blacks that got screwed.)

And re. McD's charges of racism (how friggin' rare!); I'm a bit ambivalent and need help from the general public. (Here's your chance to vote and NOT have it overturned by a higher court!)

    1) Should I explain the satire involved in the above story to MacDiva? Who I was actually making fun of?

    - or -

    2) Should I tell her to go fuck herself?

VOTE NOW - and thanks in advance.
