Four months after the proposal to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, Paris Hilton calls off her engagement. According to her aunt Kyle Richards (as quoted in this article by People Magazine), Paris acknowledges her youth and wants to make sure she doesn’t make a mistake in front of the whole world. And in true classic Paris fashion, she didn’t let this change keep her from partying in style with her friends.
With the recent scrutiny she’s had while gallivanting about sans fiancé, this news isn’t too much of a shock. Granted, I doubt many expected the engagement to last anyway. But reports do say that this was her decision while Latsis wanted to try and work things out. No wedding date had ever been set for the couple that had known each other for ten years and rekindled their relationship this past winter.
Paris Latsis’s father, Gregoris Kasidokostas, would not comment on the split, but said a postponement would make sense. He has also acknowledged that the two are not as close as they had been previously. Perhaps it really is an issue of the Parises being too young for marriage and children.
Given the publicity Paris Hilton has endured over the past few years, perhaps she does not want to be a total screw up all of the time. However, her sex tape scandal or tiffs with other celebs makes that hard to believe.
Recent magazine polls also showed the public confidence in their relationship, well, nonexistent. Readers of Blender Magazine even voted them the celebrity couple to end in divorce first—by a whopping 69%.
Paris Hilton still hopes she and Paris Latsis will be great friends. Awww, how sweet.

Totally predictable. Stupid, insecure, childish, racist skank.
The dude is lucky. He has way more money than she does and there would have been something wrong with him if he was willing to live with her as man and wife.
That is all.

What better way to gain publicity than to break an engagement?
Paris, your 15 minutes were up an hour ago.

Of course the enagement was for attention. I just wonder why Paris Latsis fell for this trap.
