“It is hard, but I’ve always had it in my heart to be an inspiration and a positive voice of encouragement,” Nick said. “So the first time I heard someone say 'thanks for sharing,' I thought if I can use this as an opportunity to inspire people, then it’s all worth it.” Not only is Nick inspiring people, but he and his brothers are taking actions with their Change for the Children program. One part of the program is called D-Vision and it was created to find a cure and increase awareness for diabetes. Fans can support D-Vision by buying special merchandise available at the Change for Children site.
The Jonas Brothers also picked five charities which they encourage fans to support. And for the first $10,000 donated to a charity, the Jonas Brothers will match it. The charities are: Nothing but Nets which helps prevent malaria (a child dies from malaria every thirty seconds), American Diabetes Association Diabetes Camp which is a diabetes camp for kids (I know someone who went to this and really enjoyed it), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which helps find cures for kids, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles which has a diabetes center, and the last one is the Summer Stars Camp for Performing Arts, a free camp for economically disadvantage kids. They are described as a real life Camp Rock.
I think it’s great that Nick is using the diabetes to make a difference. I hope his awareness campaign is a success.
