How did I know that as soon as John Mudd posted another entry, it would immediately pop up on the Technorati Anywhere listing for my page.
Again, NOBODY ELSE'S posts at Blogcritics do this. NOBODY'S.

If it's not because of Google placement or pinging, I'm really not sure why it's happening. I'll have to blame it on dumb luck, which I tend to have a lot of, luckily. I mean, you do have to be pretty lucky to come up in a Brian Flemming search.

1. It's no big deal. It's not a problem that needs solved.
2. It IS a mystery.
I go to Technorati now and then to see who is linking to me and when they linked.
And, somehow, John's individual POSTS here at Blogcritics ALWAYS show up, even though they technically shouldn't.
That is to say--if John's posts register (because of my name on the blogroll), then EVERY post ever posted by any Blogcritic should also register.
But they don't.
So there is something unique about John Mudd's posts. They are different from every other Blogctitic's posts.
And I just want to know what unique thing it is that John does (knowingly or unknowingly) to cause this to happen.
He may not know.
But John--it is impossible that it is dumb luck. Out of all the posts every day here at Blogcritics, ONLY yours register in this way.

OK, so I saw this convesation because of *my* Technorati watchlist. :-)
Here's the deal: If your weblogging software does notification of weblog updates (say, to www.weblogs.com, or www.blo.gs, or any of a number of other aggregators), Technorati will pick it up. If you have turned that feature off (it is a setting in the Moveable Type "publicity" interface, for example) then no ping, and no Technorati spider.
There is something new, however - you can go to http://www.technorati.com/ping.html and manually tell Technorati whenever you update your weblog. That'll send the spiders out on a high-priority indexing run. There's also XML-RPC and other techie API interfaces, go to http://www.sifry.com/alerts/ to get more info.
