New Comics Blog

Regular visitor, major domo of TheComicsJournal.com, and cool guy Dirk Deppey has launched the new TCJ blog, Journalista!

    Journalista!
covers the entire spectrum of the comics world, from the new breed of art comics to the children's comics for which the medium is best known, from comic strips to editorial cartooning to the latest experiments in online comics, plus business and technical aspects of the medium. Journalista! aims to be a source of thoughtful news and commentary, bypassing the uncritical press-release-driven news and hype-oriented interviews commonly found on most other comics-related news websites.
Yeah!

Here's a post that hits close to home:

"SPACES, Cleveland's artist-run alternative space gallery, is putting together an exhibition of artists books, zines, alternative comix and other self-published/editioned materials. This exhibition will be on view in the gallery from January 10 - February 21, with several zine and bookmaking related events during the exhibition. Want us to consider your project for the show? Send us a copy, or send us slides! We will be including a broad range of work from across the US and Canada. Here are the details:

"Deadline for submissions: October 31st. That's next Thursday (Halloween!) so send your materials as soon as possible. If you have one of a kind books, you can send slides or good color copies instead of the original work... or contact Christa at the gallery to arrange to bring in your work in person.

If you're a comic aficionado, Jounalista! is the place for you.

Praise seconded. I can see this blog quickly becoming a first-stop for news and commentary on comics-related issues (much as TCJ is for more in-depth examinations of same). A very impressive launching . . .
