The Phillies' bullpen also has deserving players. One of the top bullpens, and one of the biggest surprises, of the year. Occationally, like any bullpen, they have meltdowns, but more often than not they do steller jobs. Most notably was a game two weeks ago. It was a 17 inning game. In the first inning the starting pitcher was knocked out by a line drive and needed to be taken out of the game. In the remaining 16 innings the bullpen teamed up to allow 2 runs. Relief pitchers used to maybe one inning got stuck in there for twice or tripple that amount.
But every team has it's deserving players who don't get the recognition. It's the nature of the All Star Game. Even the Braves and the Yankees, who each send more players than their fair share, could make arguements for most of their team being there.
And in the end, the All Star Game needs to be about the fans and their favorite players, the whole reason of letting the fans vote for the starting roster.
peace.

Dude, if you think it's tough being a Phillies fan, try taking the turnpike east and enduring a Pirates Season. Derek Bell, Pat Meares, Kevin Young, the overrated and underwhelming Jason Kendall, I could go on and on. Even the bobblehead quality is going down hill. At least PNC park is all that.

Whoops, I meant turpike "west"! Duh. Unless the Pirates are now playing in New Jersey.
