Miss America 2009, Katie Stam, to Visit America’s Wounded in Germany

Part of: NewsFlash

The European Command Area of Responsibility (EUCOM AOR) is looking forward to a much anticipated visit from Miss America 2009, Katie Stam next month. She is the first Miss America to visit the EUCOM AOR in over 35 years and will arrive to a very busy schedule.

Miss Stam’s activities will begin at the USO Family Day on Patch Barracks in Stuttgart where she will be singing to and visiting with American military, civilians, and their families. The military community will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Miss America as well as getting her autograph.

An extra special treat for children and teenagers will be her visits to the American elementary schools in the Stuttgart area to include Patch American High School.

Miss Stam will then be attending the Commander's Interagency Engagement Group (CIEG) Speakers Assembly to discuss her platform commitment, “Giving back to the community through service and volunteerism.” The event is free, open to the military community in the Stuttgart area, and will be followed by a question/answer session.

Miss Stam will follow in the footsteps of her predecessors with a visit to our Wounded Warriors at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC). Her schedule will close with a visit to Landstuhl’s Fisher House, a German elementary school in the area, and finally, a meeting with the Lord Mayor of Stuttgart.
