MacOS X v10.2: The Story So Far

I've had Jaguar for about a week. This is one user's saga dealing with Jaguar and Apple's shenanigans.

I was surprised at the intense bitterness I read in this article, so I browsed your site just a little bit. Your article on iTunes similarly reveals that you've gone far beyond "the user is always right" and into "the user always has a right to be obnoxiously belligerent."

[Recommendation] Brian, suggestions for enhancements and questions or complaints are always taken more seriously when they don't seem to come from someone with a chip on his shoulder. This is supremely annoying. Fix it.

See how rude that sounds? And I only changed one sentence...

I thought about specifically responding to your iTunes criticisms, but there really isn't any point, since you don't seem to be the listening type. I will say this: One out of four actually sounds like a valid complaint. It hasn't happened to me, but if it did, I'd be annoyed, too. Not bitter, but annoyed.

Your Netflix series is even worse. Have you considered trying to go through life without picking it apart? You'd be happier! I've been a member since 1999, and I haven't ever lost any envelopes, and I've been able to open each and every one somehow, despite the lack of clear instructions.

Brian, let me put it to you another way. Go to IMDB. Go ahead, fire up a browser window and open on IMDB's homepage. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and note who owns IMDB. Guess what. Amazon does. A bit hard for Netlix, an arguable competitor to Amazon, to co-opt IMDB's content, isn't it? I rest my case.

Again, does that seem familiar? I'm sorry Netflix doesn't send full-color DVD cases or list information about movies that they don't carry and that aren't even available on or announced for DVD, but if Netflix is that miserable, please unsubscribe. The fewer members, after all, the faster I'll get the popular DVDs I'm waiting for.

In the end, you ended up with some extra traffic on your site from me, once. Never again. Life's too short to complain about *everything*. And yes, I understand the value of criticism, I particpate in this site, after all. But there is a fine line between criticism and complaining, and your web persona has crossed it long ago.
