Living a thankful life means you acknowledge all the little things in your life that give you pleasure. You take nothing for granted and place value on everything. It is a way of living out your life with an awareness that it is made up many gifts, all of which are just for you.
If left unchecked, your worries, stress, disappointments, and difficulties can become overwhelming. When that happens you can quickly become depressed, unhappy, and angry. Being thankful about something every day keeps you focused on the positive. It acts as a barrier between you and unhappiness. There is always something going on that could be upsetting and stressful. Life is not easy, and sometimes it seems as if life, with all that is going on in today's world, is even harder than it used to be. It is these difficulties that make it so important for you to live a thankful life.
One way you can get started is simply to write down three things you are thankful for. No matter how difficult it might be to think of something to be thankful for, put a minimum of three things on your list. These three things can be anything – a cup of coffee, a beautiful sunrise, a hug from your child. It does not matter how big or small they are. If you find more than three things, write them all down. Pick a time that works for you and make a new list of things to be thankful for every day. The more you engage in this activity, the easier it will become.
