Because she's become so out of touch with reality that she thinks she's entitled to keep anything someone hands her and that even if she's not, she's so important a figure that no one would dare question her actions or make her account for them.

She did basically steal the purses, after the photoshoot, she just left with them and thought they were hers to keep, after Louis Vuitton got into touch with her, she apoligized for the incident calling the whole thing a "misunderstanding". Louis Vuitton didn't renew here contract, because of the whole "Bennifer" issue, and they wanted someone younger and promising, which later turned out to be Scarlett Johansson.
