It's A Boy!

Eric and Dawn Olsen are new parents, again. The details have been posted on Dawn Olsen's blog, but I'll summarize here.

Alexander Kirk Olsen was born at 7:05am Eastern, this morning, and weighed 9 lbs even. He was 20.75 inches long.

And yes, I keep using the past tense, but that's because they grow and shrink hour by hour these first few days!

Congratulations, Dawn and Eric!

UPDATE
Thanks Phillip! I'm back for a little while. Dawn and Alex are doing very well. We made it to the hospital at 6:40 and he was born at 7:05 - no messing around this time! For all the 24 hours of pain, suffering, fatigue, emotional distress, and drugs conflicting with each other when Lily was born four years ago, this time it couldn't have gone much more easily or quickly (if it had, we wouldn't have made it to he hospital) - when he was ready he was ready. Dawn thinks it was the Mexican food last night.

Thanks so much for all your kind thoughts!

So was Eric! Every time we talked on the phone, I'd think he must be calling from the hospital now, right?

Nope. And boy, was he getting antsy. (Read: testy)

Congrats Eric, Dawn and baby Alex!

I hope you've had an opportunity to "wet the baby's head" as we call it here in Ireland (i.e. have a drink to celebrate!).

Good luck with the little fellah. :)

One less thing to worry about.

    Hang on ....

So glad it was all over but the shouting and then all over quickly.

    A fine name, too

Congratulations! My wife will enjoy knowing that it took a mere 25 minutes for the little guy to join the world - it'll give her hope that whenever we decide to have kids it'll be the same for her!

25 minutes? Wow! That's the sign of a mother who has already been through labor. Tom (sorry), the first one is often the longest.

I just wrote congrats in another thread, but news of happy Christmas time babies is worthy of cross posting. Congratulations Dawn, Eric and Alex :)

Shhh! Keep this quiet! She'll never agree to have kids if she thinks this is unrealistic!

Congratulations, Dawn and Eric, on the newest Blogcritic.

How long before he posts his first review?

Maura, I will definitely toss a toast tonight - too much to do in the meantime! We are heading back to the hospital pretty soon. Dawn is bored already - I doubt she'll last until Sunday morning.

As far as labor time: she asctually started having pretty regular contractions last night, but they weren't the real thing yet. She woke up around 4 AM having strong ones, so we're really talking about three hours, which is still super short. What was really different this time was the time between transition and birth - about 15 minutes.

Tom, tell her it'll fulfill her biological destiny or something.

Ok -- picture this -- it's 2021 and little Alexander, now 18 and fully grown, had picked up a guitar somewhere along the way and is the leader of The Olsen Family, a calypso band. Eric on Marimba, Dawn & Kristen doing background vocals and Chris & Lily on steel drums. Their latest cyber CD, on the newly merged SONY - EMI - BMG- UNIVERSAL-WARNER BROS. label -- S-E-B-U-WB -- is 'The Olsens Family plays The Harry Belafonte Songbook.' Yes, folks, this will happen and you will be reviewing it.

(ANOTHER GREAT MUSIC BIZ STORY -- AND YOU WERE THERE).

Congrats Dawn & Eric. Be happy.
