Maybe it was because I had none, but the iPhone exceeded my expectations. Like all of Apple's products, the design is beautiful. it is small and sleek - about the size of a standard iPod, and about the thickness of the old iPod Minis. There are no unsightly buttons, corners, or edges. Everything is smooth and rounded softly. It is remarkably slender. It leaves virtually no bulge in my pocket. I normally do not keep my phone in my pocket because I don't like the unsightly bulge. But if I forget and slip it into my pocket, I won't feel self-conscious about it.
The iPhone is the phone equivalent of the Little Black Dress. It goes with everything, fits in to any situation. The face is a smooth, solid black, with only the faintest depression for a home button. The back is silver brushed metal with a black base, marred only by the camera lens - even that is about pea-sized and pushed off to the corner. The phone has a bit of heft to it, but is not heavy. Just feels solid and well constructed, like the well-made jewelry I am always raving about on this site.
Yes, it is expensive. But so are good shoes - actually, the iPhone cost more than any one pair of shoes in my closet. It is worth the investment - the perfect example of style meeting function.
