When he turned 70, he swam handcuffed, shackled, and towing 70 boats with 70 people from the Queen's Way Bridge in Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary, a distance of 1.5 miles.
A week after he turned 88, he performed 88 pushups
on his star when it was unveiled on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
He attributes his staying power to pride and discipline, "two words that will change your life." He works out for two hours before dawn, seven days a week. He also is a fanatic about his diet. "If man makes it, I don't eat it," he says.
